About Basketball WA:

Basketball WA is the governing body for basketball in WA. They lead the growth and development of the sport across urban, regional, and remote communities, guided by values of inclusion, participation, integrity, and excellence.

With a passionate team of staff and volunteers, and a strong connection to the grassroots and elite levels, BWA is proud to deliver programs that promote physical and mental health, social connection, leadership, and community impact through basketball.

The Opportunity:

As Chief Executive Officer, you will report to the Board and be responsible for the leadership, strategic direction, and operations of Basketball WA. You'll manage a skilled team, collaborate with key partners, and ensure BWA's values and vision are reflected in everything you do.

Your Role will Encompass:

• Strategic leadership: Delivering and evolving BWA's Strategic Plan and guiding long-term growth.
• Governance and compliance: Overseeing systems, policies, and legal obligations to ensure accountability and excellence.
• Business development: Identifying new partnerships, revenue streams, and social impact opportunities aligned with our mission.
• Sport development: Understanding participation drivers, competition sustainability, and inclusive access to basketball across WA.
• Community leadership: Advocating for basketball with government, media, and stakeholders; strengthening the sports profile and influence.

You will Bring:

• Visionary executive leadership across the sport, government, commercial or not-for-profit sectors.
• A collaborative, values-driven leadership style with a strong focus on empowering people and performance.
• Strong business acumen, financial literacy, and experience reporting to a Board.
• Proven ability to engage and influence a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, from volunteers to government ministers.
• A deep appreciation for community development, regional outreach, and the power of sport to bring people together.
• A proactive approach to innovation, change, and brand positioning.
• Familiarity with service delivery, regional development, and navigating emotive or complex environments with empathy.
• A genuine passion for sport and a deep appreciation for its role in building healthier, connected communities.
