Overview of Role

We're seeking a motivated Junior Engineer to support our technical, sales and production teams across various concrete plants in Victoria. Reporting to the Technical Manager, you will contribute to concrete mix design, testing, quality assurance and technical support for internal teams and customers. This role is ideal for an early-career professional (1-2 years' experience) ready to expand on graduate-level skills and take on more responsibility in a dynamic environment.

Operational Background

The technical team plays a central role in maintaining product quality, supporting sales with technical expertise, and driving mix optimisation and innovation. The Junior Engineer will work alongside experienced professionals in QA/QC, production, and R&D, gaining broad exposure across operational processes and concrete performance. You'll be involved in projects ranging from everyday commercial supply to specialised infrastructure work.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development, testing and review of concrete mix designs for performance, compliance, and customer requirements.
  • Coordinate and monitor the production of specialty and trial concrete mixes.
  • Support QA/QC procedures across sites, ensuring testing practices meet internal and regulatory standards.
  • Provide technical support to sales teams and liaise with customers on mix capabilities and performance.
  • Analyse plant data, test results and batching outcomes to identify trends and recommend improvements.
  • Contribute to product development and research into new materials and technologies.
  • Maintain accurate technical records and documentation.
  • Promote and uphold safe work practices and environmental compliance.

Knowledge, Experience, and Attributes Sought

Essential:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Materials Engineering (or equivalent).
  • 1-2 years' industry experience (ideally in concrete, construction materials or related field).
  • Foundational understanding of concrete technology, materials testing, and mix design.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong communication skills - verbal and written.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team and independently.
  • Current driver's licence and willingness to travel between sites.

Desirable:

  • Experience with CommandQC or similar mix design/quality control software.
  • Exposure to plant operations or automated batching systems (CommandBatch).
  • Interest in R&D or continuous improvement initiatives.
