Systems Design Consultants

Join our Downer Professional Services team and express your interest in future opportunities within our Technical and Advisory stream. We are seeking to engage skilled professionals with Defence or Defence industry experience to join our permanent workforce and support complex defence and national security projects that safeguard Australia's future.

Downer Professional Services is comprised of two business units, our Technical, Advisory, and Capability consulting practice and Team Downer, a major service partner to Defence. Together, we are a multi-disciplinary advisory and delivery partner of choice for our clients in Defence and National Security.

We're interested in hearing from professionals with experience aligned with the below roles:

• Systems Engineer
• Systems Designer
• Systems Solution Design Lead
• Configuration Manager
• System Integration Engineer

What You'll Bring

Previous experience ideally within the Defence or consulting services industries.

• Strong Linux OS expertise including automation and administration, with hands-on experience using tools like Ansible, Puppet, Salt, or Chef.
• Proficiency in containerisation and orchestration technologies such as Docker, Podman, and Kubernetes.
• CI/CD pipeline experience using platforms like GitLab Runners, Jenkins, or Bamboo, supporting agile development and deployment.
• Virtualisation and infrastructure knowledge, including VMware and Hyper-V, to support scalable and secure environments.
• Understanding of agile and secure environments, with experience in SAFe, DevOps, Scrum, and working in air-gapped or Defence settings.
• Cyber security awareness and familiarity with cyber operations
• Ability to produce and review technical documentation

Due to the nature of the work, you are required to currently hold and maintain a minimum Negative Vetting 1 or higher Security clearance as required by the Commonwealth. In some instances, compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements may also be an inherent requirement.
