What does a successful Senior Application Engineer (DevOps) - eCommerce do at Fiserv?
We are seeking a skilled Senior Application Engineer (DevOps) to join our dynamic team in supporting our critical eCommerce applications. This onsite role is essential for ensuring the efficiency, scalability, and reliability of our eCommerce platform. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in application development, systems integration, and DevOps practices, with a commitment to delivering high-quality solutions in a fast-paced environment.
What You will Do:
- Technical design and development of web-based applications on the eCommerce platform. Engage in coding and troubleshooting technical problems.
- Provide hands-on support for eCommerce applications, ensuring high availability and performance.
- Troubleshoot and resolve application issues, collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement effective solutions.
- Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines to streamline application development and deployment processes.
- Automate application build, test, and deployment processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
- Manage and optimise native and cloud-based infrastructure to support scalable eCommerce applications, ensuring efficient resource utilisation.
- Monitor application performance and implement changes to enhance reliability, security, and scalability.
- Work closely with development teams to facilitate agile practices, ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality applications.
- Engage with product management and stakeholders to understand requirements and provide technical insights.
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation related to application architecture, deployment procedures, and operational best practices.
- Generate regular reports on system performance, deployment activities, and incident resolutions to keep stakeholders informed.
- Collaborate with QA teams to implement automated testing frameworks and ensure rigorous testing of applications before deployment.
- Participate in code reviews and provide feedback to improve code quality and maintainability.
What You Will Need To Have:
- 7+ years of experience as an Application Engineer, with a focus on DevOps practices in an eCommerce environment.
- Strong knowledge of application development technologies, architecture, tools, and methodologies.
- Extensive experience with Java/J2EE, C++, Spring Framework, and Struts development in a large corporate environment.
- Proficiency in multi-tier application design and development, and experience with classic ASP.
- Familiarity with databases such as MS SQL and IBM DB2 for application development.
- Experience with application servers including Tomcat and IBM WebSphere.
- Knowledge of Microsoft IIS 6 and IIS 8.5.
- Experience with SOA architectures, REST APIs, and web services.
- Proficient in front-end technologies, including hand-coding HTML, JavaScript, and CSS.
- Understanding of secure coding practices, including OWASP guidelines.
- Experience working with digital certificates and PKI is desirable.
- Exposure to Spring technologies, PING, and SailPoint is highly desirable but not required.
- Experience with Adobe CQ5 and Apache Kafka is also highly desirable.
- Sound knowledge of networking and system monitoring.
- Good understanding of EFT transaction processing fundamentals and different message types.
- Exposure to financial systems applications in eCommerce is preferred
- Strong experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI) and application deployment strategies.
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes), is preferred
- Familiarity with monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana) to track application performance and health.

- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
