Venue Manager – Sunshine City Club

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Venue Manager to join our team at Sunshine City Club. Established in 1956, our small but busy venue offers a friendly community atmosphere with a bar, bistro, bowls green, live entertainment, pokies, TAB, and function spaces.

About the Role

As Venue Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the club, leading our team, and ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for our members and guests. This is a hands-on position suited to someone who enjoys variety, people, and community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily venue operations (bar, gaming, kitchen, bowls, events).
  • Ensure compliance with liquor and gaming regulations.
  • Manage rosters, supervise staff, and support training/development.
  • Handle cash balancing, banking, and reporting using Xero.
  • Maintain stock control and supplier relationships.
  • Promote events, functions, and community activities.
  • Liaise with the Board and report on venue performance.

Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience in hospitality or club management.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Must be competent with Xero (payroll, invoices, reconciliations).
  • Experience with H&L POS system (preferred, training provided).
  • Good knowledge of liquor and gaming compliance.
  • Ability to multitask across bar, kitchen, and gaming operations.

Qualifications (Required)

  • Current RSA and RSG (Victoria).
  • Food Safety Supervisor (or willingness to obtain).
  • First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain).
  • Approved Manager status (preferred, or ability to gain).
