About the Position

The Retail Manager role directly aligns with the operational scope of HNC 52 Pty Ltd as a retail food outlet, rather than a traditional sit-down restaurant. Our business operates on a walk-in, counter-service retail model, where speed, consistency, and effective stock and price control are central to success.

The Retail Manager will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the business, ensuring service standards, compliance, staff supervision, and financial control are maintained.

This position reports directly to the Business Owner.

Tasks and Responsibilities

· Deciding on the range of food and beverage items offered, according to the season, market trend, and customer feedback

· Maintaining appropriate stock/inventory levels and recording daily financial transactions to ensure smooth operations and effective cost control.

· Developing and applying purchasing strategies, preparing and managing operational budgets to align with the business's financial goals and seasonal demands.

· Actively promote the business's offerings through in-store displays and social media, while consistently enhancing the visibility and appeal of our menu items.

· Overseeing marketing efforts (such as daily specials and online promotions) and setting competitive pricing based on local market demand.

· Engaging directly with customers, assisting them with their orders, and offering product recommendations, including guidance on food ingredients and meal customisation;

· Ensuring high service standards is tailored to a fast-paced food-outlet store environment.

· Taking charge of staff recruitment, conducting hands-on training, and supervising team members to ensure efficiency and a positive workplace culture.

· Ensuring the food retail store operates in line with all occupational health and safety requirements, including food safety standards and hygiene protocols.

Qualifications, education, experience and abilities required:

Minimum of a diploma qualification in hospitality management (or equivalent)

Minimum 3 years of hospitality industry experience, including one 1 year of management experience in a hospitality retail environment.

Essential Skills

Strong leadership and staff management skills, including recruitment, training, rostering, and supervision.

Excellent knowledge of retail operations in a hospitality setting, including stock control, POS systems, and customer service standards.

Ability to analyse sales trends, manage budgets, and implement cost-control measures.

Strong customer service and communication skills, with the ability to resolve issues and maintain customer satisfaction in a fast-paced environment.

Understanding of food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safety regulations applicable to retail food outlets.

Excellent organisational and time management skills, ensuring smooth daily operations and efficient service delivery.

Ability to develop and implement marketing and promotional strategies to drive sales and customer loyalty.

Hours:

The employee's ordinary hours of work will be 38 hours per week, scheduled across weekdays and weekends as required, inclusive of meal and refreshment breaks in accordance with the Fair Work Act.
