Project Engineers
We are seeking multiple Project Engineers with a passion for renewable energy and hands-on experience in Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). In this role you will lead engineering activities across the full project lifecycle, from initial concept and feasibility through to construction and commissioning. You will work closely with cross-functional teams and external partners to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and aligned with high standards for safety, quality and sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
As Project Engineer you will be responsible for leading and coordinating the detailed engineering work for BESS projects. This includes developing system designs, preparing project layouts and documentation, and supporting survey and site assessment activities to ensure optimal design and delivery. You will also take the lead in managing spatial data, applying GIS tools, and conducting yield analysis and performance modelling to inform design decisions and maximise efficiency.
A central part of the role will involve working with consultants, contractors, vendors and internal teams to integrate BESS solutions into a wider portfolio of renewable energy projects. You will also play an active role in stakeholder engagement, liaising with landowners, councils, community representatives, grid operators and regulators to ensure projects gain the necessary approvals and maintain compliance throughout the development and delivery process.
Alongside the technical elements, you will be responsible for preparing and managing engineering deliverables, estimates, schedules and reports. Monitoring progress against budget, identifying and managing risks, and ensuring that projects are delivered to standards for quality, safety and environmental compliance will be essential. The role will also require occasional travel to project sites to oversee engineering activities and maintain close connection between design and delivery.
Experience & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Renewable Energy, Mechatronics or related discipline).
- 2 to 6 years of relevant experience in BESS, solar, wind or utility-scale energy engineering.
- Proficiency with CAD and GIS tools, and familiarity with spatial layout modelling.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Proven ability to multitask, take initiative and work both independently and collaboratively.
- Ability and willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
In addition, we list a few 'great to have' experiences that will make you stand out as a candidate:
- Prior experience working in distributed renewable energy, embedded networks or energy precinct systems.
- Understanding of high-voltage systems, grid interconnection, electrical protection or control systems for energy storage.
- Experience with yield modelling and analysis tools.
- Knowledge of Australian regulatory requirements, planning processes and grid connection protocols.
- GIS expertise or spatial data management experience.
- Experience liaising with Utility/Network Service Providers, local councils or environmental regulators.
- Familiarity with construction oversight and field engineering.
