Description
About Us
Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) is a global consulting firm with over 10,000 entrepreneurial, action and results-oriented professionals in over 40 countries. We take a hands-on approach to solving our clients' problems and assisting them in reaching their potential. Our culture celebrates independent thinkers and doers who positively impact our clients and shape our industry. The collaborative environment and engaging work—guided by A&M's core values of Integrity, Quality, Objectivity, Fun, Personal Reward, and Inclusive Diversity—are why our people love working at A&M.

About The Role And Team
A&M's Employment and Payroll Advisory practice, in our People Services team, brings together the experience of employment relations, payroll, taxation and data analytics specialists. We support our clients in ensuring their workers are paid correctly and efficiently, while complying with all of their employer obligations.

Are you a payroll consultant, employment relations (ER) specialist or HR professional looking for a new and refreshing challenge? Our business is performing well and we are recruiting for both a Senior Director and a Manager to play a key role in driving our further growth

As someone who wants to build something meaningful and shape the future of payroll advisory, you'll get to work closely with senior stakeholders (internally and externally) and contribute to high-profile engagements.

You will experience a wide variety of work as we help our clients solve important problems. Examples of our client projects include:

  • Payroll Reviews & Advisory – Partnering with clients to assess payroll operations, identifying risks and implementing system enhancement and process improvements.
  • M&A Activity – Supporting clients to manage the employment-related aspects of M&A Activity, including payroll due diligence. Engaging with target businesses to uncover risks, quantify exposures, and prepare clear, actionable reports.
  • Payroll and Superannuation Remediation – Assisting our clients to rectify payroll and superannuation issues identified. Also managing key stakeholders, including impacted employees, the Fair Work Ombudsman and/or the Australian Taxation Office.

These roles offer variety, challenge, and the chance to make a real impact across industries

What You Bring To The Team
For both roles you will have the following –

  • Experience: Proven experience working in a Payroll or ER Advisory role. Prior exposure to M&A and due diligence work would be highly favoured.
  • Background: Consulting experience, particularly in payroll advisory, ER, transformation, or system implementation. Professional services experience is preferred. However, if you're currently in an in-house role and looking to transition into consulting, we still encourage you to apply.
  • Skills: Technically astute, commercially minded, personable, and a positive team player who can demonstrate EQ.
  • Mindset: Willingness to learn, be adaptable, and collaborative.

As a Senior Director, you'll also have -

  • Proven ability to lead teams, drive strategic initiatives, and a passion for building something meaningful.
  • Experience building client relationships, developing service offerings, and mentoring junior team members.
  • Track record of delivering high-impact solutions across complex client environments.
  • Willingness to take ownership, challenge the status quo, and lead with integrity.

What's In It For You?
At A&M we pride ourselves on being more than just a workplace. Our culture is built on trust, collaboration, and a commitment to empowering and truly valuing our people

The People Services team can also offer you the following –

  • Positive Environment: Work with a diverse team of like-minded professionals who value collaboration, efficiency, and innovation.
  • Top-Tier Clients: Gain exposure to a broad range of industries and work on impactful projects.
  • Culture: Enjoy a positive, supportive, and empathetic workplace where people are approachable, and unnecessary bureaucracy or micro-management is avoided.
  • Rewards: Competitive remuneration packages above market rates, performance bonuses tied to your personal achievements, and recognition for your contributions.
  • Leadership Style: Experience an approachable and empathetic leadership style that fosters autonomy, professional growth, and trust in your ability to deliver.

Sound good to you? Please apply now
