Northern Adelaide Local Health Network (NALHN) is eager to recruit a Senior Speech Pathologist to work in our dynamic, growing and supportive team, to help us deliver exceptional care to our community.

About the Role:

The Senior Speech Pathologist, Child Development Unit is responsible for the provision of assessment and diagnostic services to families / children presenting with complex developmental delays / disorders, including Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), who are referred to the Unit, with the aim of optimising client / family outcomes.

Working in conjunction with allied health staff members and other health professionals, the Senior Speech Pathologist utilises highly specialised clinical skills in the management of complex clinical cases. Services incorporate the use of specialised assessment tools for diagnosis and management of neurodevelopmental disorders, including ASD, and Fetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD).

The position is required to provide advice and consultancy to other allied health / medical staff in relation to the assessment and differential diagnosis of ASD. The Speech Pathologist works collaboratively with the Gordon McKay Child Development Unit multi-disciplinary team, liaising directly with other NALHN staff and external community agencies as required. 

The position is expected to function within an innovative and quality improvement focus, with the primary aim to improve the quality and access for our NALHN consumers.

In addition to above responsibilities the position will be required to provide professional leadership and coordination support to the broader allied health team operating within the Unit, contributing to intra and inter professional activities across the Unit and may be required to participate in relevant NALHN leadership / operational committees as required.

The Senior Speech Pathologist works under limited direct clinical supervision and may provide clinical supervision and teaching to other health professionals or students, seeking to gain expertise in the assessment of children who present with features of complex neurodevelopmental disorders.

To be eligible for this position, you must hold an appropriate Degree or equivalent qualification which gives eligibility for full membership of the Speech Pathology Association of Australia.
