The Role

The Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre is Western Australia's premier event destination which is home to Perth's top gala dinners and events, large scale conferences to small boardroom meetings, corporate events, exciting exhibitions, and theatres performances.

With this diversity, we are looking for a very passionate, creative Chef De Cuisine with the ability to focus on multiple events simultaneously and ensure the culinary delivery is of the highest possible standard.  This exciting opportunity will see the correct candidate work amongst a passionate culinary team where a large focus will be on development and further progression.  A great attitude is required along with a creative flair.

To be the correct candidate for the Venue, you will need to share the vision and direction of the PCEC.  Through your leadership ability to strive for perfection and continual improvement of the culture and product, you will need to achieve the following key result areas:

  • Culinary excellence - a passion for food and knowledge of current food trends
  • Creative and well costed menus
  • Team development
  • Financial accountability
  • Food safety management
  • Customer service experience  

Key attributes of the successful applicant include:

  • Trade Qualifications
  • Previous experience in a senior chef role in high volume catering
  • To be able to creatively develop new menus, whilst maintaining profitable food and labour costs
  • Demonstrated experience gained in 5 star hotels or high-end restaurants
  • Knowledge of menu planning, ordering and portion control
  • A sound understanding and practice of food safety
  • Understanding of OHS procedures
  • Experience in staff management and training - confidence and leadership that is inspiring
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
