Kootingal Public School is a small to medium-sized school located at the foothills of the Moonbi Ranges with a current enrolment of 175 students. Of these, 30% identify as Aboriginal, and the school acknowledges that it is situated on the traditional lands of the Gamilaraay people. The student body comes from a diverse range of socio-economic backgrounds.
We currently have 2 Kindergarten classes, 6 stage based classes and 1 multi-categorical class. Our staff includes experienced teachers and beginning educators. Our students are provided with extra-curricular opportunities in sports, as well as in the creative and performing arts. The students enthusiastically engage in a Gamilaraay language program, which is delivered weekly across the school. We are well resourced with technology with classes having access to both iPads and laptops.
At Kootingal Public School we are dedicated to providing quality teaching and learning, where we aim to improve student literacy and numeracy results through explicit teaching strategies. We employ data-driven practices aligned with evidence-based pedagogical approaches and foster strong collaborative practices. The school's wellbeing initiatives, including Positive Behaviour for Learning and The Resilience Project, are also data-driven and aimed at addressing the social and emotional wellbeing of our students.
Selection CriteriaApproval to teach primary library or currently undertaking or currently enrolled in Teacher Librarian qualifications approved by the NSW Department of Education, with the ability to develop and deliver high-quality release from face-to-face programs
Demonstrated ability to engage students through innovative teaching and learning experiences whilst promoting critical and creative thinking, digital literacy and a love of literature
Capacity to effectively manage a flexible library space and its resources, that functions as a learning hub for the school utilising the Oliver Library Management System
Highly developed communication, organisation and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, parents and the wider school community, and contribute positively to the whole school culture
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

Applicants seeking permanent part time employment are encouraged to apply for this position. The recommended applicant will be offered an appointment at their desired FTE (up to the maximum FTE of the advertised position). Applicants on the

This is a permanent part time position for 2 days per week 0.4FTE (Full-time equivalent).
