About the role:
An exciting opportunity exists for a Clinical Psychologist or Clinical Psychologist in Training to join our supportive and dynamic team at Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) Manning. You will be based at the Taree site at and work regularly with a multi-disciplinary team in Taree, and Maitland. At times you will be required to travel during work hours to other parts of Manning to provide service.
We work in a multidisciplinary team that supports each other to achieve recovery goals within complex presentations. Our model of care within HNELHD CAMHS supports dual clinician work to achieve effective family therapy interventions and support the continuous growth of clinicians.
Within HNE CAMHS we are supported within our local team governance structure, the wider CAMHS network and Mental Health network. Clinical decisions, risk reviews and service improvement are achieved together; and the Psychology staff are a core member of our team.
You will be supported by senior clinicians across Manning and Hunter Valley CAMHS; C&A Psychiatry and have access to daily multidisciplinary team review with psychologists, social workers, nurses, occupational therapists, and dietitians.
Additionally, you'll benefit from regular clinical supervision and access to continuous training and educational programs, designed to enhance your professional development. Additional group supervision for our psychology staff, and family therapy cases are also available.
About us:
CAMHS is a specialist mental health service that assesses and treats young people 0 – 17 years of age and their families/carers who are living in the HNE Local Health District (LHD). Young people referred to the service have complex and severe mental health problems that significantly impact on most aspects of their functioning and development.
Our core work involves Specialist assessment of presenting symptoms, problems and family systems and the subsequent therapeutic intervention, case management, or service navigation and to assist in progressing our clients and families in their recovery and building capacity to manage wellbeing for the long-term intervention.
Our model of care focuses on dyadic, and family based therapeutic interventions to address presenting symptoms, illness and drivers that impact presentations through the public health system – with scope for individual therapy where clinically indicated.

About you:
We are looking for psychologists with demonstrated skills and experience in the assessment, intervention, and evaluation of clinical outcomes with children and adolescents and their families.
Experience in co-clinician work or family therapy interventions is not required, and support and training are provided.
Requirements:
- Completion of an Australian Psychology Accreditation Council accredited postgraduate clinical psychology qualification of no less than two years full time duration or recognised equivalent, displayed on the AHPRA website.
- Provisional Psychologists enrolled in an APAC-accredited Master of Clinical Psychology Course are eligible to apply (Clinical Psychologists in Training). For Clinical Psychologists in Training, please note that you are required to nominate your placement coordinator as a referee.
- Where no clinical psychologists/clinical psychologists in training are found to be eligible for the position, psychologists with general registration will be considered.
