Sydney Children's Hospitals Network is the largest paediatric health care entity in Australia. We care for thousands of children each year in our hospitals and in their homes — with one purpose in mind — to help young people live their healthiest lives.

What you'll be doing

The Heart Centre for Children Psychology Research Program was established at The Children's Hospital at Westmead in 2007 and has since broadened to span across the Sydney Children's Hospital Network (SCHN) Cardiac Service. The program is one of the first internationally to be fully embedded within paediatric cardiology and dedicated to mental health and childhood heart disease. The Program's research spans across all developmental ages and stages, from early fetal life through infancy, childhood, adolescence, adulthood, parenthood, and grandparenthood. The Program focuses on the issues that are important to children and families, understanding the complex challenges posed by paediatric and congenital heart disease, and developing new and better ways of addressing these challenges.

The Senior Research Assistant will play a key role on research studies and initiatives investigating psychological, neurobiological, developmental, behavioural, and social outcomes contributing to the mental health and quality of life of children, adolescents, and adults with congenital heart disease and their families, and will contribute to other research and administrative tasks across the Psychology Research Program at the Heart Centre for Children.

This position will contribute technical and research skills in activities associated with various research projects led by the Program, including the contribution and application of knowledge in the fields of medical psychology and paediatric cardiology within the Heart Centre for Children.
