About the Role:
As a Financial Accountant, you'll play a key role in supporting Payroll processing, month-end and financial reporting, audit and taxation compliance, and providing professional assistance to the Finance Team.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in line with AASB and IFRS standards
- Lead the external audit process, ensuring supporting schedules and reconciliations
- Oversee weekly cash flow reporting
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting
- Oversee fixed asset register
- Assist with ongoing compliance of AMA's internal control environment including continuous improvement of internal controls, policies, processes and procedures
- Accurate and timely processing of monthly payrolls and reporting including superannuation; in accordance with relevant legislation and company policy
- Ensure accuracy and timely lodgement of BAS and FBT obligations
- Ensure accuracy of monthly state payroll tax lodgements and year-end reconciliation
- Support Finance Director with reporting requirements, tax returns, workers compensation, General purpose financial statements, and intercompany reporting
- Ad hoc projects and analysis to support Finance Team
About You:
- 4+ years' experience in the management of financial systems, financial reporting & financial data analysis (preferred)
- Degree qualified in accounting or related field
- Membership of the Chartered Accountants Australia and NZ or Certified Practicing Accountants (CPA)
- Knowledge of accepted accounting practices and principles
- Demonstrated ability to work well autonomously and collaboratively under strict deadlines
- Knowledge of applicable laws, codes and regulations
- ERP system experience (SAP preferable or proven ability to learn quickly)
- Excel experience (intermediate)
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Planning and organisational skills
- Analysis, good judgement, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively
- Good written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate complex financial matters to non-technical team members
- Manage self in a professional and effective manner to ensure timely, accurate and efficient processing of financial documents
- Process and deadline driven mindset with a keen eye for detail
- Highly self-motivated with intrinsic desire to strive for excellence and shows initiative
- A thorough understanding of digital and data systems and applications that maybe applied to financial management and reporting
- Strong analytical skills and problem-solving mindset
- Excellent communication, teamwork and people skills; bring a proactive and collaborative approach
- Strong work ethic, accountability and integrity
- Keep up to date on current accounting practices and laws affecting the organisation
