An exciting career building opportunity has arisen for an experienced Environmental Consultant to join our internationally recognised Environmental Approvals, Closure & Management (EAC&M) team as a Team Lead. Managing circa 10 consultants across our Brisbane, Mackay and Townsville offices, our flexible "One Team" commitment means we are open to the right candidate being based in any of those locations.
The team provides a wide range of project management, environmental impact assessment, closure, approvals and post-approval environmental management services and works alongside other specialist teams in SLR to deliver a complete environmental service to clients across a range of sectors. This position will be responsible for leading and developing the team, and contribute to the wider EAC&M team's growth.
Articulate, motivated and reliable, you will have a minimum of 10 years' experience in consulting, government or industry. You will enjoy undertaking project work whilst mentoring team members and developing client relationships throughout the region. You will also collaborate on projects and initiatives with the national EAC&M Group and other teams within our multi-disciplinary business.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the QLD state lead for EAC&M your responsibilities will include:
- Working with the QLD State Lead and the APAC Technical Discipline manager to assist in the development and implementation of team business plans and strategies
- Developing, facilitating and enhancing effective relationships with our clients and internal SLR team members, particularly, across other technical disciplines
- Operational day to day team management including team timesheet approvals, team workload and resourcing and, individual team member management
- Team performance management and career development discussions and management
- Providing advice regarding best practice environmental impact assessment and management principles to clients and internal SLR team members
- Working within and leading multidisciplinary teams to deliver projects across a range of sectors
- Delivering clear and precise, high-quality reports
- Working with the Talent Acquisition team and the State lead on reviewing applications, interviewing and selecting new talent into the team.
Experience
Along with a positive attitude, you will need:
- A degree in Environmental Science, Engineering or a related field
- Minimum of 10 years' experience in environmental impact assessment and consulting
- Ability to win work through business development and demonstrated client management expertise
- Demonstrated experience managing multidisciplinary projects
- Demonstrated knowledge of QLD & Commonwealth environmental legislation and policies, standards and guidelines
- Proven people management will be highly regarded but we will also consider exceptional consultants ready to step up into management.
- Experience in the mining, linear infrastructure or power sectors
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Australian Citizenship or rights to work in Australia
