Chifeng Gold's Lane Xang Minerals Limited Company (LXML) operates the Sepon Gold and Copper Operation, located in Vilabouly District, Savannakhet Province, Lao PDR. We are committed to the development of Laos through our production of copper and gold, whilst striving for business excellence.

In support of this growth, we are looking for Senior Resource Geologist to join our team to deliver on our growth plans, and be a part of this exciting future.

The role of Senior Resource Geologist reports to the Superintendent – Resource Geology.  The Senior Resource Geologist is responsible for extending mineral resources through targeted drilling activities and evaluation of projects handed over from the Exploration team.  The Senior Resource Geology delivers geological block models based on sound geological and geostatistical evaluations and works with the production team to ensure the accuracy of estimates and production delivery.

Key responsibilities include:

  • To design, justify and supervise surface resource drilling activities ensuring safe and efficient operations in order to maximise geological knowledge
  • To collect and assist to analyse geological data in order to maximise value gained from Resource drilling
  • To assess and work through geo-metallurgical issues and ensure the resource model provides accurate inputs for mineral processing
  • Perform model reconciliations to de-risk resource and grade control models and work in collaboration with the grade control team
  • Coordinate between Mining, Exploration, Environment, Community Services and contractors to schedule and implement surface drilling programs
  • Participate in the process of discovery by assessing projects delivered from the Exploration team and constructing block models for resource estimation and mining development
  • Oversee core yard supervision activities to ensure the timely and quality processing of drill core and samples
  • Generate relevant reports and documents on a daily, weekly and monthly basis
  • Ensure business improvement processes and plans are implemented in the Resource team
  • Mentor and develop Lao national geologists

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Tertiary qualification in Geology or related studies

  • At least 5 years relevant industry experience, preferably with some time in a senior role, and including mine and resource geology work

  • Competent in geological software with Leapfrog Geo and Edge being essential and other mining software such as Vulcan and Isatis desirable

  • Be able to analyse KNA, variography and univariate geostatistics

  • Must be able to create block models and perform basic grade estimations using results from the above-mentioned analysis

  • Previous experience working in a multicultural team and work environment favorable

This role is located in the Lao PDR on either a Fly-in Fly-out 28 days on, 14 days off roster, or residential 9 days on 5 days off roster.
