ServiceNow is looking for a global government affairs executive to join a global team for a position as Senior Director, Global Government Affairs and Public Policy, APAC. Reporting to the Vice President, Global Head of Government Affairs and Public Policy, this individual will lead ServiceNow's government affairs activities in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region.
Primary location base is across APAC, not necessarily in Australia.
Job description
What you get to do in this role:
- Building, strengthening, and managing relationships with government officials, regulators, and policymakers at all levels of Government across the APAC region.
- Providing direct support and counsel to ServiceNow executives in their public sector engagements.
- Advancing policies and issues that impact the company's bottom line.
- Engaging ServiceNow in local policymaking processes, including representing ServiceNow in industry coalitions and leading our trade association activities.
- Working closely with the Area Vice Presidents & General Managers in the Asia Pacific region and their leadership teams, as well as other senior executives globally.
- Advising on current political, regulatory, business, and policy trends in countries not limited to Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, India and the broader APAC region including potential business implications.
- Communicating regularly with internal business line owners, sales and product teams to ensure awareness of potential risks and benefits of various policy, legislative, and regulatory initiatives.
- Supporting sales teams and customers from public sector, financial services, energy, utilities, transportation, healthcare, and regulated industries.
- Working closely with internal and external stakeholders and teammates, consultants, public, and private sector teams to execute an ambitious government and policy engagement program.
- Monitoring and providing timely and insightful reports and analyses on developments and trends specific to the ServiceNow public policy priorities and regulatory issues which may impact the company's bottom line. Such priorities could include a wide range of corporate issues including;
- Artificial Intelligence and related regulation of emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence and machine learning;
- Tax;
- Trade;
- Cyber and data security;
- Data sovereignty and data residency regulation;
- Cloud;
- Privacy;
- Intellectual property;
- Encryption;
- future of work and workforce development;
- procurement and data processing; and
- controlling, governance, and interoperability.
- Leading discussions with industry coalitions and working groups and collaborating with subject matter experts across a variety of stakeholders, issues, and disciplines.
- Gaining a deep knowledge of ServiceNow's business, including value delivered to our global public sector and commercial customers.
- Collaborating with country, regional, and global public and private sector teams spanning a variety of disciplines.
To be successful in this role you have:
- The successful candidate will have a minimum of 15 years combined experience as a government affairs executive with a major company or trade association or a senior public servant in a relevant government agency within the APAC region.
- Degree in political science, business, law, economics, or similar field; advanced degree is a plus.
- Ability to travel throughout the APAC region.
- Existing relationships with government officials and policymakers at the highest levels.
- Extensive experience developing policy white papers and thought leadership for the public sector and/or regulated industries (e.g., financial services, energy, utilities, transportation, and healthcare).
- Extensive leadership and organizational skills, and the proven ability to successfully execute policy, regulatory, and business objectives in the public policy arena.
- Strong writing and presentation skills including preparing briefing documents, analyses, policy and legislative recommendations, correspondence, requests for information, and other legislative documents.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including experience speaking at major global policy conferences and forums, and leading official engagements, events, meetings, and/or travel.
- Intellectual curiosity, eagerness to learn, and a willingness to "dream big."
- Enthusiasm, interest, and background in technology issues, tax, trade, cybersecurity, procurement, AI, privacy, data, as well as government efficiency and modernization, including around citizen services, auditability, and procurement.
- Deep integrity and excellent values that immediately generates respect and trust, internally and externally.
- Ability to present ServiceNow priorities to government officials and explain sophisticated regulatory and policy matters to senior executives across business units.
- Executive presence, coupled with strong communication, teamwork, and advocacy skills.
