About The Role
Are you an experienced environmental approvals professional looking to make a meaningful impact?
Join our Perth team to lead client relationships, strengthen the JBS&G brand in Environmental Approvals, and collaborate with our respected specialists. Candidates demonstrating strong leadership potential may also have the opportunity to lead and grow a dynamic team.
You'll collaborate nationally with JBS&G's multidisciplinary experts to deliver high-quality environmental assessments and approvals across a range of sectors. This is a unique opportunity to lead significant projects, expand your professional network, and contribute to major developments across WA and beyond.
Tasks And Responsibilities
You'll play a key role in shaping and delivering environmental approvals for a diverse range of clients and projects. Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading the delivery of high-quality environmental approvals across a mix of small to large-scale resource, infrastructure, energy, and development projects
- Interpreting environmental legislation, policy, and guidelines to design tailored approvals strategies that unlock project success
- Engaging directly with State and Commonwealth regulators to understand and respond to their needs, supporting smooth project approvals and positive outcomes
- Building trusted relationships with clients through clear communication, proactive support, and excellent service
- Preparing approvals documentation that meet the needs of clients and regulators
- Managing project timelines, budgets, and deliverables with a sharp eye for detail and accountability
- Contributing to business development efforts, including identifying opportunities, writing bids, and supporting strategic growth
About You
- At least 8 years' experience in environmental assessments and approvals in WA, ideally within a consulting environment
- A relevant tertiary qualification in environmental science, planning, natural resource management, or a related field
- Strong working knowledge of WA and Commonwealth environmental legislation, planning pathways, and approval processes
- Proven ability to lead (or direct) and deliver small to medium projects independently, with experience coordinating tasks, subconsultants, timelines, and budgets
- Excellent communication skills - both written and verbal - with the ability to tailor your message for technical and non-technical audiences
- High-quality report writing skills, and pride in delivering clear, accurate, and professional documentation
- Strong client relationship skills, built through trust, responsiveness, and delivery of quality outcomes
- Ability to juggle competing priorities, manage project deadlines and budgets, and remain focused under pressure
- A positive, proactive approach, with a commitment to teamwork, continual learning, and mentoring others
- Experience leading small teams including coaching and developing people to achieve career goals is desirable but not essential
