Job Opportunity: Vacuum Truck Operator (Hourly Rate based on experience)
Location: Adelaide and surrounding suburbs, with occasional interstate travel across South Australia.
About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Vacuum Truck Operator to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for operating our Mitsubishi Fuso Vac Truck, ensuring efficient and safe daily operations. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while liaising with clients and team members.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain the vacuum truck, including daily water filling and spoil disposal.
- Conduct continuous vacuum operations and ensure the truck is meticulously maintained.
- Perform routine maintenance of all vacuum system components.
- Travel to and from work sites safely and efficiently.
- Undertake necessary training, certifications, and site inductions.
- Read, interpret, and source technical drawings and plans as required.
- Handle vacuum lines and unloading equipment safely.
- Use lifting aids to access pits and inspection points.
- Take site photographs, measurements, and report site conditions accurately.
- Correctly store and dispose of waste materials.
- Liaise professionally with clients, providing clear technical information.
Skills & Experience
Qualifications:
- Required: Current Driver's License (HR preferred MR Required).
- Desired: First Aid Certificate.
Experience:
- Experience driving HR trucks and operating a vacuum truck.
- Previous work on gas work sites and tier 1 construction sites is advantageous.
- Basic mechanical knowledge and vehicle maintenance understanding.
Skills:
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines independently.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions effectively.
- Intermediate to advanced IT proficiency (Word, Excel, Outlook, apps).
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and documentation.
- Proficiency in using lifting aids and correct manual handling techniques.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including client liaison and record-keeping.
- Professionalism and effective communication with clients, colleagues, and management.

- Accuracy: Reporting and recording job-specific information in a timely manner.
- Equipment Maintenance: Ensuring proper care, cleaning, and upkeep of the vacuum truck and components.

- Efficiency: Completing tasks diligently while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Safety & Reporting: Promptly reporting client issues, concerns, or near misses to management.
- Continuous Improvement: Expanding job-specific knowledge and undertaking necessary training to enhance skills and expertise.
