At A Wood Shed, we strive to be more than just a timber and hardware store. We're a passionate team dedicated to helping builders and DIYers of all levels bring their projects to life. We pride ourselves on offering quality materials, expert advice, and friendly service that keeps our customers coming back. We have stores located in Darra and Brassall, and are open Monday to Friday: 5:30am to 4:30pm, and Saturday: 8:00am to 12:00pm. (The Darra Store is not opened on Saturdays).

Role Summary

This full-time, permanent position is for a Yard Store Hand/Forklift Operator at our Brassall Store. You'll work in a small team, ensuring the yard runs smoothly and efficiently while delivering outstanding service to every customer.

Duties and responsibilities

Get ready to thrive in a fast-paced environment where initiative and excellent customer service are key. You'll be responsible for:

  • Providing friendly customer service
  • Accurately picking and preparing orders for dispatch
  • Efficiently and safely loading and unloading vehicles and trucks
  • Restocking racks with materials
  • Maintaining a clean and safe timber yard
  • Delivering materials when required (if required and licenced to do so)
  • Following all company policies and procedures
  • Working seamlessly in a team and independently

Licences, skills and requirements

  • Forklift licence required (essential)
  • Truck licence (desirable but not essential)
  • Knowledge of timber/hardware or construction (desirable but not essential)
  • Able to carry out manual labour (handling timber, hardware, etc.)
  • Great customer service skills
  • Early starts may be required
  • Aware of basic WHS requirements
