Apprentice Fire Vehicle Repairer
- Participate in the Automotive - Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology Certificate apprenticeship with the aim of becoming a Fire and Rescue NSW Heavy Vehicle Motor Mechanic after 4 years
- Salary: $14.87 per hour (1st Year Apprentice), and tool allowance and superannuation
- Location: Greenacre
About the role:
This is more than just an apprenticeship—it's a chance to work on some of the most critical vehicles in the state. You'll gain hands-on experience, learn from the best in the business, and build a career that keeps our firefighters on the road and ready for action.
As an Apprentice Fire Vehicle Repairer of FRNSW, you will build skills and develop experience in the following:
- Interpretation of mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic diagrams to undertake service, repairs and maintenance
- Use of vehicle diagnosis equipment and software
- Correct use of precision measuring devices
- Use of hand tools, power tools and various workshop equipment
- Operation of welding and oxy acetylene cutting equipment
- Service, repair, maintain and inspect all FRNSW vehicles and appliances
- Use of the FRNSW Fleet Management Computer System
- Participate in field service work

About you:
- You will possess the mechanical aptitude suitable to the repair, service and maintenance of heavy vehicles
- Ability to complete the training course
- Possess good communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment
- Have demonstrated motivation and interest in the trade
- Eligible for a Record of School Achievement (RoSA) before commencement of apprenticeship
