The Role
Based on site at Tantangara, this position is responsible for providing onsite project engineering oversight and assurance of civil construction activities on behalf of the Snowy 2.0 Owners Team. The role ensures that all works meet contractual obligations and are delivered in full compliance with the Employer's Requirements (ER). The key focus of this position is to proactively monitor, assess, and support delivery to ensure the ER is achieved in accordance with the Contract.

This is a 2-year contract role, working a 5:2 roster (Monday to Friday). Relocation assistance is available for candidates moving from outside the region.

Key Responsibilities
Health, Safety & Leadership

  • Maintain the highest standards of health and safety performance.
  • Implement safety plans and model behaviours aligned with Snowy Hydro values.
  • Lead by example and comply with all SHL Health & Safety policies.

Construction Oversight & Monitoring

  • Ensure the Employer's Requirements and contractual obligations are met at all times.
  • Monitor contractor performance to identify and address issues early.
  • Verify works are completed in line with IFC drawings, specifications, and project documents.
  • Report any discrepancies or faults and recommend corrective actions.
  • Provide guidance to ensure all inspections, testing, and approvals meet project standards.
  • Act as Quality Manager during roster breaks.

Quality Management

  • Conduct on-site quality assurance of civil construction works on behalf of the Owners Team.
  • Ensure the built product meets contractual and project quality requirements.
  • Confirm all documentation is completed and properly recorded.
  • Provide technical support to Site Surveillance and Assurance Officers (Civil, Safety & Environmental).

About You
You'll have an Engineering degree eligible for Corporate Membership of Engineers Australia with experience on large civil or infrastructure projects. Strong technical and construction skills is a must, with demonstrated experience managing contractors and consultants. The role requires someone who can work independently and as part of a team, adapt to changing conditions, and apply initiative on site or remotely. Strong communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills are essential, along with good knowledge of Quality, WHS, EEO, and Environmental standards.
