The Opportunity -

Boeing is taking another bold step in aerospace and advanced manufacturing. MQ28 is the first military aircraft to be designed, engineered and manufactured in Australia in more than 50 years. This unmanned teaming aircraft is Boeing's first military aircraft to be designed and developed outside the U.S and uses artificial intelligence to extend the capabilities of manned and unmanned platforms. This cutting-edge project is aiming to unlock global defence and aerospace opportunities for Boeing and Queensland.

The Boeing MQ-28 Ghost Bat is a globally-significant program that will deliver a disruptive advantage to support Defence operational capabilities. As we continue to accelerate the development program, and expand the aircraft flight envelope through the test program, we are seeking the very best talent from a diverse range of backgrounds to help grow and contribute to our innovative team.

Boeing Defence Australia (BDA) are looking for a Product Review (MRB) Engineer to join our team supporting the cutting edge MQ-28 Ghost Bat program. In this role you will support the establishment and ongoing execution of the future full rate MQ28 production facility. We are looking for someone who will embrace our company's behaviours and is willing to innovate.

This role is based at Wellcamp Airport, Toowoomba (preferred) or at Wacol in Brisbane.

As a Product Review (MRB) Engineer within BDA, you will

  • Establishing the processes for the production facility to support the Material Review Board (MRB) system.
  • Leads research of technical, operational and quality issues that cannot be resolved and designs interim and final engineering solutions.
  • Leads others to analyze, conduct root cause analysis and develop dispositions for design non-conformances.
  • Develops and implements product/process improvements.
  • Uses innovative approaches and unique applications to address complex nonconforming conditions and to detect deviations.
  • Provides design phase subject matter expertise by supporting Integrated Product Teams (IPT) and participating in design reviews.
  • Ensures supplier and build partner compliance with Boeing standards.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will be comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic manufacturing environment and have:

  • Minimum of 7 years' experience in aerospace design, modification or production support activities.
  • Hold Tertiary qualifications in either Aerospace, Mechanical or Mechatronics, that satisfies the requirements for membership with Engineers Australia (MIEAust).
  • Familiarity with engineering change processes (highly regarded).
  • Experience developing engineering artefacts within the Defence Aviation Safety Regulation (DASR) environment (highly regarded).
  • Experience with 3D modelling and design tools (highly regarded).
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement principles and practices is highly desirable.
  • Effective communication skills with different stakeholders across the business.
  • Assertive, self-motivated and capable of working with a high degree of initiative.
