The Opportunity
The Aviation Support Workshop Manager will oversee the daily operations of the Components & Avionics Workshop, including specialized teams working in
Non-Destructive Testing (NDT), Composites, Paint, and Avionics
.

This leadership role requires managing a talented and diverse team of technicians and support personnel, ensuring safety, quality, and performance standards are consistently met. The successful candidate will also be expected to champion an environment that encourages innovation, collaboration, and long-term career development.

Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership

  • Lead the operational and financial performance of the Components & Avionics Workshop in Cairns.
  • Oversee planning and resource allocation to meet project deadlines, quality expectations, and budgetary goals.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and relevant regulatory requirements (e.g., CASA Part 145, OEM standards).

People & Team Development

  • Coach, mentor, and develop a high-performing team, fostering accountability and a learning culture.
  • Conduct performance reviews and support training programs to enhance team capability and future-readiness.
  • Promote a safe, inclusive, and career-focused workplace culture.

Business & Financial Management

  • Develop and manage workshop budgets, monitor KPIs, and ensure profitability objectives are met.
  • Prepare forecasts and reports, and lead operational reviews to identify improvement areas.
  • Manage costs without compromising service quality or customer satisfaction.

Customer & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Serve as the primary liaison for OEMs, regulatory authorities, partners, and internal teams.
  • Manage customer expectations and resolve issues to maintain strong, long-term relationships.
  • Represent the organisation at industry events, reinforcing the client's commitment to quality and innovation.

Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will bring a solid track record in
aviation maintenance, workshop management, or technical operations
, with the ability to lead with both empathy and strategic clarity.

They will value people development, demonstrate ownership of challenges, and consistently apply a solution-oriented mindset.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience managing aviation workshop operations (Components, Avionics, or related fields).
  • Relevant technical qualifications in aircraft systems, maintenance, avionics, or support trades.
  • Comprehensive understanding of regulatory compliance in aviation environments (e.g., CASA, Part 145).
  • Proven leadership experience managing cross-functional technical teams or departments.
  • Commercial acumen with experience in budget and P&L management and reporting.
