Regional Director – Melbourne, VIC
The role will suit an experienced CFO looking to move beyond just "the numbers" and reinvent themselves, or it may suit an experienced BDM, sales & marketing professional, or former CEO.
Make a difference to the lives of SME business owners
The CFO Centre is transforming the lives of business owners by providing them with high-calibre Chief Financial Officers on a fractional basis. It's a win-win—our clients achieve their goals and vision in a cost-effective way, while our CFOs enjoy the variety and work satisfaction they desire.
We have exciting plans for the future, and an opportunity has now arisen for a Regional Director to join our team in Victoria.
What's the opportunity?
This is a unique opportunity to lead the growth of our Victorian region—working closely with a high-performing team of fractional CFOs and making a meaningful impact on the SME sector. As Regional Director, you'll be at the forefront of delivering our services to clients, building strong relationships, and driving commercial success in the region.
You'll play an important role in the recruitment process—meeting candidates, providing insight on team dynamics, and helping ensure the right cultural and professional fit. You'll also be responsible for onboarding and supporting new team members to set them up for long-term success.
Operating with autonomy but backed by a national and global support structure, this role combines leadership, strategic thinking, and hands-on client engagement—offering both purpose and potential.
What You Will Be Doing
As Regional Director, you will actively grow our presence across Victoria and ensure both our clients and team thrive. Your focus will include:
Team Leadership
Support, coach, and grow a team of experienced CFOs. Guide performance, conduct regular one-on-one meetings, lead monthly team sessions, and manage team capacity across the region.
Business Development
Engage directly with SME business owners to uncover their needs, ask the right questions, and present the value of our offering. You'll manage the full sales process—from initial contact through to signed agreement.
Client Relationships
Oversee client onboarding, maintain regular communication, ensure satisfaction, and support long-term retention. You'll work closely with CFOs to deliver an exceptional client experience.
Regional Strategy & Marketing
Develop and execute a local marketing plan, build referral networks and Distribution Partner relationships, and represent The CFO Centre at relevant business and networking events.
You will be...
Highly experienced, energetic, and self-driven, with a natural enjoyment of developing relationships. With a proven track record in business growth, team leadership, and account management, you also seek a collegial environment with other like-minded professionals. This opportunity will suit entrepreneurial individuals who understand commercial finance and the critical role a CFO plays in supporting growth and strategic development.
The Company
The CFO Centre is part of the CFO Centre Group, the global market leader in part-time CFO services. We deliver time, money, and peace of mind to enterprising mid-tier owner-managers, typically with revenues between $2m and $50m. The Group operates in 17 countries, with over 700 experienced CFOs as part of our global team.
- Founded in the UK in 2001 and established in Australia in 2009, the Australian business operates in five states.
- We are passionate about providing top-class CFO services to the SME sector. Our purpose is to build relationships that make a real difference to both our clients and our team. We are committed to ongoing commercial and cultural development and believe in the long-term, sustainable growth of our clients' businesses.
- The CFO Centre provides highly experienced part-time CFOs to businesses that don't need, don't want, and probably can't afford a full-time CFO—but still need access to that skill set on a regular basis.
- All of our CFOs are professionally qualified and have held senior finance roles in business—often multiple times over. Many have also led companies or held general management roles. They share a commitment to excellence and a desire to pass on their experience and knowledge.
Required Skills and Experience
- Ability to develop strong alignment with the company's purpose and culture
- A strong 'people person' with a natural talent for building relationships
- Proven ability to build, lead, and motivate a high-performing team
- Previous experience building a sustainable team or division
- Solid commercial background
- Credibility and the ability to connect with SME business owners
- Enjoyment of and success in developing new business
- A long-term, strategic approach to account management
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to listen, ask insightful questions, and build trust with clients and team members
- Energetic, motivated, and action-oriented
- Organised, reliable, and professional
- Strong understanding of the CFO role and its impact
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
The role is self-employed, operating within a proven model. It combines the benefits of autonomy with the support of a trusted team and structure—allowing flexibility in how results are achieved.
Shortlisting will commence immediately, and only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for an interview.
