The Role

This is a role for someone who sees tax not as compliance, but as architecture. As Senior Manager, Tax, you'll work alongside a Head of Tax who values intellect over ego, and curiosity over credentials. You'll navigate a landscape of entities, mergers, and reforms, interpreting legislation, solving intricate problems, and guiding the business through each decision with precision and grace.

You'll roll up your sleeves when it counts, reviewing returns, shaping FBT and group tax processes, and ensuring every number tells a true story. Yet beyond the spreadsheets lies the art: leading automation, streamlining workflows and building a platform that will outlast both of us. In twelve months' time, the scaffolding will start to lift. Compliance will give way to strategy, manual work to oversight and your legacy will be a smarter, sharper, future-ready tax engine.

About You

You're the kind of professional who reads legislation the way others read literature, carefully looking for meaning between the lines. You've grown up in the discipline of public practice private clients or corporate tax, but you're path isn't to partnership. You're drawn to the idea of creation—to taking what's good and making it great.

You have the humility to do the work and the intellect to question it. You know that credibility isn't volume, it's precision. You like things done right, but you're never precious about how. You think in systems, speak in solutions, and you bring calm to complexity.

Skills & Experience

  • 7–12 years in corporate tax or large private clients, ideally across both compliance and advisory
  • Deep technical competence in Australian income tax and FBT.
  • Proven ability to interpret and apply legislation independently.
  • Experience in multi-entity or acquisitive environments.
  • Strong communication skills—able to translate technical clarity into commercial sense.
  • Experience mentoring others and improving processes.
  • A mindset that blends accountability, curiosity, and collaboration.
