Join us at Better Self Allied Health—and be part of something bigger
We're looking for a dedicated and motivated Senior or Experienced Speech Pathologist to join our team, working across our Prospect and Salisbury sites.
Better Self Allied Health, part of Lutheran Care, is a for-purpose service supporting children, adults, and families through allied health, disability, and wellbeing programs. We're growing—and we're excited to welcome a passionate Speech Pathologist to our team.
You'll work with a predominantly paediatric caseload, along with some adult clients, including those accessing our specialist Stuttering & Cluttering Clinic. We're also expanding our services to include swallowing and paediatric feeding.
About the Role
As a Speech Pathologist at Better Self Allied Health, you will provide exceptional care through evidence-based assessment and treatment for clients with complex communication and swallowing needs. You will focus on building strong, positive relationships and achieving meaningful outcomes for clients, their families, and support networks.
You'll be committed to continuous development, actively seeking opportunities to expand your knowledge and skills. You'll also contribute to the growth and development of the team by regularly sharing ideas, resources, and feedback in a collaborative environment. As a Senior Speech Pathologist, you will mentor and supervise junior team members, including Early Career and Experienced Speech Pathologists.
You will support a generalist caseload—primarily paediatric, with some adult clients experiencing a range of communication difficulties. You'll also have the opportunity to work within our specialist Stuttering and Cluttering Clinic, which offers a variety of treatment options for children and adults. As part of our expanding service, you'll also contribute to new swallowing and paediatric feeding supports.
What You'll Do:
- Comprehensive Assessments and Interventions: Apply professional knowledge to identify and address speech, language, communication, and swallowing issues through evidence-based interventions. This includes teaching sound production, working with stuttering and cluttering, enhancing vocabulary and sentence structure, and developing safe swallowing skills.
- Individualised Treatment Plans: Devise and monitor treatment plans with realistic goals, ensuring clients and their families understand and work towards these objectives. Provide regular progress updates and identify areas of improvement and challenges.
- Training and Collaboration: Offer training and counselling to clients, their families, and caregivers on effective coping strategies. Work collaboratively with external organisations and service providers to ensure seamless service and refer clients to relevant specialists.
- Professionalism and Documentation: Maintain high standards of professionalism, respect, and confidentiality. Ensure clinical documentation meets required standards and take initiative in establishing group programs. Demonstrate strong conflict resolution and negotiation skills to achieve the best outcomes for clients.
What's in It for You?
- Complete your 20 hours of annual CPD internally:
- 7 hours Aboriginal Cultural Awareness training
- 7 hours of Through Their Eyes Training
- Quarterly Team days - including 4-7 hours of CPD per day
- PD budget of $1500 and 3 days
- Fortnightly mentoring and supervision
- A bonus structure per additional client over the KPI.
- Admin time built into your day so no after work hours.
- A $1500 bonus upon completion of your first 6 months.
- Full administrative support so you can concentrate on providing quality care to clients.
- You're Amazing Day. Enjoy a paid day off just for you, because you deserve it
- Paid Parental Leave supporting you through life's important moments with paid time off to care for your growing family.
- Salary Packaging – boost your take-home pay with up to $15,900 tax-free each year.
- Flexible work options & supportive culture.
- Free, confidential counselling services for you and your immediate family.
What You'll Need
