Orchard Hand

The Role

Located in the Riverland town of Loxton, we are looking for a skilled and motivated Orchard Hand to focus on tractor operations and chemical spraying. You will play a vital role in ensuring our orchards are maintained to the highest standards through safe and efficient machinery use, careful chemical application and general orchard upkeep.

Key Requirements

• Operating tractors, trucks and other equipment for tasks such as spraying, fertilising, irrigating, and harvesting;
• Carrying out orchard chemical spray programs with a focus on accuracy and safety;
• Performing daily maintenance procedures on equipment to ensure smooth operations;
• Supporting harvest operations through tractor driving and machinery use; and
• Assisting with other orchard tasks as needed, such as general maintenance, cleaning, and pruning.

About You

• To succeed in this role, you will have:
• At least 2 years' experience in a similar role (horticulture or viticulture);
• Australian driver's license;
• Forklift licence (or willingness to complete);
• AusChem certified, preferred but not essential;
• Flexibility to work some evenings and weekends during busy periods as required;
• Mechanical aptitude;
• Previous Tractor experience (vineyards or orchards); and
• Positive attitude, willingness to learn and ability to work well in a team environment

Duxton Apples is a geographically diversified Apple production company with Orchards in the South Australian Riverland and Nangwarry in south-east South Australia as well as a storage facility in Monarto. Duxton Apples currently produces approximately 7,000 tonnes of fresh fruit or 25% of South Australia's Apples.
