Fitzroy is a new force in the Queensland metallurgical coal mining industry with a portfolio of existing operations and a pipeline of growth projects.  In our short history, we have successfully reinvigorated operations at Carborough Downs underground mine, breathed new life into the Broadlea open cut and opened our new underground longwall pit at Ironbark No.1.

About the role

Reporting to the Technical Services Superintendent at Carborough Downs, this position provides technical support relating to the mine design, reporting and scheduling and engineering projects including underground mining excavation design, grade plans and LOM design

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to

  • Ensuring all work complies with statutory and regulatory requirements and company policies and practices;
  • Ensuring all work is completed on time;
  • Preparing preliminary and detailed mine (including infrastructure and services) designs, mining methods and mine plans and schedules and ensuring project work complies with conditions;
  • Liaison with other team members to ensure goals are met;
  • Assisting with the preparation of budgets.
  • Any other duty or responsibility as directed by the direct supervisor or upline management

About you

  • Minimum 5 years' experience working in an underground coal mining environment (essential)
  • Tertiary Mining Engineering qualifications
  • Experience with mine planning software or willingness to participate in mine planning software training
  • Excellent work ethic and attendance record
  • Commitment to site safety, operational practices, and mine production targets
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong computer literacy skills
