SOTO are seeking an energetic Mechanical Design Engineer who enjoys working within diverse challenges.
The successful applicant should be capable to drive engineering designs from start to finish. Entailing concept and scoping, calculations and design modelling, and certification to Australian standards.
Job Responsibilities- Perform design calculations to ensure safe design and compliance with Australian Standards
- Produce design and engineering concepts including required additional information i.e., welding standards, tolerances etc, following drawing registration and control procedures
- Check drawings and calculations of designs generated by colleagues for accuracy and practicality
- Site travel to provide engineering services, such as 3D scanning, DEM modelling of chutes and transfer points
- Perform root cause investigation of failed components and generate technical reports.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering discipline
- Minimum five (5) years Mechanical experience and well versed in Australian standards
- Experience with the following Software
- AutoCAD, Inventor or Solidworks
- Engineering tools: Mathcad, Ansys – Linear/Non-linear, Microstation, STAAD. Pro
- Varied engineering exposure: lifting tools, transport frames, planetary drives and gear boxes, vibrating equipment, shafts and bearings
- Member of Engineers Australia, possibly with RPEQ status, with a detailed path toward CP Eng. status.
- Collaborative team player with can-do attitude and curious mindset
- Willingness to learn, with an ability to mentor junior engineers.
