The Northern Australian Conference is seeking a reliable and experienced Bus Driver to join our team in Mackay. This position, within the School Support department, falls under the Operations category and is a Fixed Term Part-Time role consisting a minimum of 12.5hrs a week.

As a Bus Driver, you will be responsible for safely transporting students to and from school, as well as on field trips and other school-related activities.

Your main tasks will include:

  • Operating the school bus in compliance with all traffic regulations and safety standards
  • Completing the afternoon bus run
  • Being available for additional charters school runs
  • Ensuring the cleanliness and maintenance of the bus
  • Assisting students with disabilities or special needs during transportation
  • Maintaining accurate records of bus mileage, fuel consumption, and student ridership
  • Communicating effectively with school staff, parents, and students regarding bus schedules and any changes or delays
  • Upholding a positive and professional attitude while interacting with students, parents, and colleagues
  • Adhering to the policies and procedures set forth by the Northern Australian Conference

The successful candidate will have a valid driver's license with a clean driving record, excellent communication skills, patience when working with children, and a strong commitment to safety. Previous experience as a bus driver in an educational or community setting is preferred. While it is preferable to be a practising Seventh-day Adventist or of the Christian faith, applicants should at the least have an understanding of and commitment to the School's Christian framework, values and ethos; and be sympathetic and supportive of the school's Special Character.

  • Valid Qld driving licence with category MR entitlement
  • Proven experience as a bus driver, preferably in a school or educational setting
  • Familiarity with the road network in Mackay and surrounding areas
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to interact effectively with students, parents, and staff
  • Strong focus on safety and adherence to traffic laws and regulations
  • Ability to maintain a clean and well-presented bus interior
  • Flexible approach to working hours and a commitment to punctuality
