What is the role?

The AFP is looking for highly motivated, skilled, enthusiastic and customer focused individuals to fill immediate roles at the Band 4 & 5 levels and to form a merit pool for future roles (nationally).

Current vacancies are:

  1. Team Member Information Management (Band 5)
  2. Information Management Support Officer (Band 4)

The AFP is embarking on major initiatives to use information and data to proactively identify and disrupt criminal activity; and the introduction of big data platforms and related information programs necessitates stronger information, records and data management skills. We seek a qualified, highly motivated individuals to assist us.

The Information Management unit sits within the Chief Information Officer (CIO) portfolio and champions the AFP's digital capabilities by implementing information management initiatives to support the goals of the agency.

You will contribute to the achievement of outcomes in accordance with the regulatory framework, the AFP Code of Conduct and the AFP Governance Instruments. It is expected that the successful applicant will be capable of delivering the core responsibilities of the position and meet the requirements outlined below.

What will you do?

The duties of these positions include supporting the team to deliver work streams including:

  1. Band 5 – Information Management Officer

  • Providing support for the various tasks overarching multi-faceted implementation of the uplift to enterprise information, records management and digitisation initiatives
  • Organising and participating in stakeholder engagement and business-focused consultation to document current process, requirements-gathering and documentation of innovative solutions to meet end user functional needs and compliance requirements.
  • Supporting the implementation of digital and hybrid records management systems in line with overarching AFP processes
  • Contributing to the development of new AFP information management strategies, policies, guidelines, technical manuals and training.
  • Assisting with routine tasks for the information management function.
  • Providing advice and support to AFP staff and stakeholders on information, records and data management

  1. Band 4 – Information Management Support Officer

  • Providing project and administrative support to support the various facets of the implementation of the enterprise information and records management program of works
  • Supporting the development and review of new AFP policies, guidelines, technical manuals and training packages.
  • Planning and organising stakeholder engagement and meetings
  • Managing the team and project mailboxes and technical support system to ensure prompt and timely action of tasks
  • Support leadership in managing routine and ad-hoc business activities to support the Information Management function

Requirements

Essential Requirements (Band 5)

  • Australian Citizenship
  • Security Clearance to NV1 (Secret) or the ability to obtain one
  • Formal qualifications from a recognised tertiary institution or demonstrated equivalent skills and experience in information and records management in a government context
  • Demonstrated experience in information and records implementation and/or enhancement projects
  • Demonstrated practical experience in one or more specific information or records management disciplines (For example eDRMS, metadata management, document and content management, information architecture) and the proven ability to apply compliant solutions to meet business needs.
  • A demonstrated aptitude of adaptability in the use of different technologies in an advanced capacity
  • Evidence of an ability to complete tasks independently, and work as a member of a proactive and agile team

Essential Requirements (Band 4)

  • Australian Citizenship
  • Security Clearance to NV1 (Secret) or the ability to obtain one
  • Proven expertise and experience in information and records management within a government context, or a strong willingness to develop skills in this field
  • Experience delivering professional technical and administrative support in both team-based and project environments
  • Demonstrated ability to organise team activities that advance objectives and achieve desired outcomes
  • Strong capacity for completing tasks independently as well as collaborating effectively within a dynamic, proactive team setting
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills

Additional Information

At the time of applying, candidates will be asked to select which band level they are applying for. There will also be an option to select both Band 4 & Band 5 should you wish. Please note, you will only be assessed for the band levels you indicate interest.
