Application & Training Specialist

Location: Melbourne, VIC (with travel across Australia)

Employment Type: Full-time

Reports To: Managing Director – Spandex Asia Pacific

Remuneration: Generous base salary + car allowance + commission program + tools of the trade

Position Description:

The Application & Training Specialist is responsible for leading and managing the development and delivery of technical training and application support across Spandex Asia Pacific. This role aims to upskill customers, promote best practice industry standards, and drive engagement and loyalty—contributing directly to revenue growth and customer satisfaction.


Key Responsibilities:

Training & Development

  • Design, develop, and deliver comprehensive training programs, certifications, and workshops for customers and internal teams
  • Create structured training schedules, content, and learning pathways across various product categories and applications
  • Establish and manage a national training calendar, including in-person sessions, virtual webinars, and on-site demonstrations

Technical Expertise & Application Support

  • Provide expert knowledge across a wide range of printing technologies, RIP and workflow software, and production methods
  • Deliver hands-on application training for signage materials including general digital print, window graphics, wall graphics, architectural finishes, and rigid substrates
  • Act as a trusted advisor to customers, offering technical guidance and best practice installation techniques

Customer Engagement & Travel

  • Travel to Spandex Asia Pacific locations to host training seminars, in-branch sessions, and customer-specific programs
  • Represent Spandex in a customer-facing role to build strong relationships and encourage brand loyalty
  • Promote Spandex products through training to drive pull-through demand and support sales strategies

Contracted Installations & Field Support

  • Occasionally assist customers in the field with print setup or installation support for key or complex jobs
  • Provide real-world expertise by participating in select on-site customer projects when required

Strategic Contribution

  • Take full ownership of the training function — identify new opportunities, measure program effectiveness, and continuously improve outcomes
  • Innovate and grow the training offering in alignment with Spandex Asia Pacific's commercial and customer success strategies

Key Selection Criteria:

Essential:

  • Extensive experience in wide format digital printing and RIP/workflow software
  • Hands-on experience in signage and graphic material application
  • Strong understanding of production workflows and installation best practices
  • Excellent presentation, training, and facilitation skills
  • Self-motivated, organised, and able to work autonomously and cross-functionally
  • Willingness and ability to travel frequently across Australia
  • Proven experience in creating/managing technical training programs or events
  • Knowledge of Spandex products and their applications
  • Trade qualification or relevant industry certifications in signage, print, or graphics

  • Development and expansion of training assets and events
  • Internal stakeholder feedback and collaboration
