Apex Steel Supplies is one of South Australia's leading manufacturers and distributors of steel products, servicing both domestic and commercial markets.

Our product range includes roofing, gutters, downpipes, purlins, fencing, structural steel, and home improvement solutions.

We are seeking an experienced and reliable Purlin Machine Operator to join our production team on the afternoon shift. The successful candidate will have proven experience in manufacturing or a similar role, with the ability to program and operate purlin machines, troubleshoot issues, and work proactively as part of a high-performing team.


Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor purlin roll-forming machines to produce quality products in line with production schedules.
  • Program machine settings as required to meet specific job requirements.
  • Perform quality checks to ensure products meet specifications and standards.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve machine or production issues to minimise downtime.
  • Operate overhead cranes and forklifts safely for material handling and loading/unloading.
  • Follow safety protocols, workplace procedures, and production instructions.
  • Collaborate with the production team to meet targets and maintain workflow efficiency.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment.

Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in manufacturing, production, or a similar industrial role.
  • Ability to program and operate roll-forming or purlin machines.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Current crane and forklift licenses.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Proactive attitude with a focus on safety, quality, and efficiency.
  • Good communication skills and attention to detail.
