Artspace Mackay is calling for a Curator to join us for a 7-month temp role. Perfect for a secondment from a fellow Queensland council-run art gallery, this is your chance to shape exhibitions, connect with community, and enjoy coastal living.

Step into a leadership role at Artspace Mackay, where creativity meets community on the beautiful Queensland coast We're seeking a passionate and experienced Curator to supervise and coordinate all aspects of our exhibitions program and oversee the Mackay Regional Council Art Collection
from 5th January 2026 to 7th August 2026.
What You'll Do

• Lead and inspire the Curatorial team, including staff and volunteers.
• Curate and deliver exhibitions of high conceptual, design, and presentation standards.
• Manage and care for the Mackay Regional Council Art Collection, ensuring best-practice conservation and registration.
• Build strong relationships with artists, galleries, and community stakeholders.
• Research and develop interpretive materials, reports, and acquisition proposals.
• Foster a safe, inclusive, and innovative workplace culture.

What We're Looking For

• Tertiary qualifications in arts or curatorial studies (essential).
• Practical experience in a curatorial role within a public gallery or museum.
• Proven leadership and team management skills.
• Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
• Well-developed time management and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of current exhibition design, installation, and best practices.
• QLD "C" Class Driver's Licence (or interstate equivalent).
• Ability to work an Any 5 out of 7 roster.
