The Role:

Northern Health is seeking applicants for the Cardiac Electrophysiology (EP) Clinical and Research Fellow. This role presents:

1) Cardiac Cath Lab opportunities

  • Electrophysiology, including right atrial and left atrial mapping and ablations, and automatic ventricular tachycardia ablations

  • Device implantations, including conduction system pacing and cardiac resynchronisation therapy

2) Research and Teaching/ Academic opportunities

  • Fellows are encouraged to develop and/ or undertake and publish a research project during the fellowship

  • There will be learning and teaching opportunities throughout the clinical year

  • Participation in QI audit is expected

3) Inpatient and outpatient responsibilities

  • Provide clinical support to inpatient Cardiology and other Unit/ Departments of the hospital

  • Provide clinical support to outpatient EP and device clinics.

All activities undertaken will be under supervision from consultant electrophysiologists.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Must be a registered practitioner with AHPRA with appropriate training and experience in General Medicine. Must be Fellow of the RACP or hold equivalent recognised qualifications.
  • At least 3 years advanced training in Cardiology at a recognised tertiary centre.
  • (as per the FRACP Specialist Advisory Committee for Cardiology 2005 guidelines).
  • This is a 1-year program commitment that can be extended to 2.
  • Must have a proven track record of excellence in clinical service delivery with a demonstrated commitment to continued improvement and team work.
  • Must have a demonstrated and ongoing commitment to education of themselves, their colleagues, junior staff, other members of the team, and medical students.
  • Must have a demonstrated and ongoing commitment to medical research, audit, QC and other activities that improve patient care.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills that enable the development of professional relationships across a broad range of people.
  • Valid working VISA if not an Australian resident.
