About the role:
Position Purpose – Project Advisor
Be at the heart of delivering Unitywater's strategic projects As a Project Advisor, you'll provide expert guidance, governance oversight, and hands-on support to project and program delivery teams across the organisation. You'll help ensure projects meet governance and quality standards while contributing to the continuous improvement of frameworks, reporting, tools and processes. Through collaboration and coaching, you'll enable high-quality project outcomes that make a tangible impact on our communities.
Key Accountabilities
- Guide and support project managers on governance, stage gates, and project lifecycle requirements.
- Monitor project delivery to ensure compliance with Unitywater's enterprise project management standards.
- Assist with project initiation, documentation, metrics, and reporting to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Review project closeouts, lessons learned, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Provide technical advice on project management governance, tools, and frameworks.
- Support risk, issue, and benefits management, ensuring value is delivered consistently.
- Coach and build capability within the project community to strengthen knowledge and skills.
- Foster strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate smooth project delivery.
- Partner with the Enterprise Performance team on change, communication, reporting and governance activities.

Must Haves
- Relevant industry qualifications in business, IT, project management, or related field.
- Experience in project or PMO roles, including managing projects, budgets, and issue resolution.
- Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and prioritise competing tasks.
- Excellent judgement and decision-making in raising concerns to management.
- Strong relationship management skills and ability to collaborate across teams.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, organisational, and planning skills.
- Agility to work effectively in a small team environment.
- Excellent presentation and facilitation skills, including engaging executives.
Nice to Haves
- Project, Program, or Portfolio Management qualifications/certifications (PRINCE2, PMBOK, AIPM, DevOps, etc.).
- Experience in change management and communication processes.
- Strong compliance skills with ability to evaluate governance framework adherence.
- Knowledge of, or ability to quickly learn, Unitywater-specific information systems.
