- You will be supported to complete a Diploma of Community Services whilst working with the Rural Youth Mental Health team

About the role
Are you passionate about supporting the mental health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people? The Benevolent Society is offering a unique opportunity to join our team as a Rural Youth Mental Health Trainee, where you'll gain hands-on experience while completing a TAFE NSW Diploma of Community Services. This includes 1 day per week at TAFE and 4 days working and learning from our team of Mental Health Support Workers.
Duties
As a trainee, you'll work under supervision within a multidisciplinary team to:
- Support culturally appropriate care and promote social and emotional wellbeing.
- Engage in mental health promotion and illness prevention activities.
- Facilitate access to mental health services and advocate for clients.
- Collaborate with families, communities, and service providers.
- Document client interactions and report changes or concerns.
- Make mandatory reports when necessary and uphold professional governance standards.

Skills and Requirements
- It is essential that you commit to completing a Diploma in Community Services and meet requirements set out by Tafe NSW.
- Understanding, through work or lived experience of mental health and community support services.
- Demonstrated effective written, computer and oral communication skills.
- Current driver license
- Please note that day travel may be required as we cover rural towns.
