We are looking for a highly enthusiastic and motivated individual to join Queensland Rail's Travel Centre based in Townsville.  

Our travel consultants provide high quality, friendly customer service. This role would suit someone with a passion for customer service and a genuine interest in helping people. You will be a quick thinker with an ability to work through problems and provide solutions. You will need to work autonomously in this role.

This is a permanent part-time position (48 hours a fortnight) that generally works between the hours of 08:00 17:00 You will also be required to work a weekend on a rotational basis. Based on   seasonal peaks and business trends additional hours will be offered to part-time employees on a regular basis which could be up to 76hrs per fortnight.

Travel Consultant's are responsible for:

  • Delivering exceptional customer service by providing accurate information and advice on Queensland Rail and third-party travel products
  • Processing rail tickets and third-party bookings efficiently and in line with company policies
  • Handling payments accurately using various methods, including cash, credit/debit cards, and account billing
  • Supporting revenue growth by actively promoting Queensland Rail Travel and partner products to customers
  • Ensuring compliance with all ticketing, booking, and administrative procedures
  • Using reservation systems effectively to manage customer bookings and enquiries
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of travel products, services, and promotions through regular training and industry engagement

We are looking to connect with someone who ideally has:

  • Substantial experience in using Travel systems and the Microsoft Office Suite
  • A positive, can-do attitude.
  • Exceptional admin, customer service and sales skills (both written and verbal)
  • Previous tourism experience is desirable.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work within a diverse team in a fast-paced work environment.
