What is a Mechanic Apprenticeship?
Kickstart your career in Mechanics with Inner West Council. This hands-on role lets you earn while you learn, gaining valuable skills while completing a Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology. Over the next 36-48 months, you'll be part of a fully supported program that combines on-the-job training and attendance at TAFE. An induction and block release attendance will take place over the course of the apprenticeship at the Wetherill Park TAFE. Guided by a clear training plan, you'll work towards key competencies, complete assessments, and track your progress as you grow your career.

About the role
You'll work alongside qualified mechanics, learning techniques such diagnosing and servicing and undertaking mechanical repairs and maintenance across our diverse fleet of motor vehicles, plant, and equipment using diagnostic tools and workshop equipment while building practical skills that will set you up for a successful trade career. Safety, quality, and pride in your work are at the heart of everything we do.

Remuneration
From $827.40 per week + 12% superannuation
Some of the required skills, experience and qualifications
- Commitment and capacity to attain the Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology (AUR31120) through formal apprenticeship program.
- Genuine interest in developing trade skills in diagnosis, service, and repair of various. fleet of motor vehicles, plant, and equipment.
- Ability to follow instructions, work as part of a team, and contribute to a safe and respectful environment.
- Willingness to learn and apply safe work practices, including adherence to WHS requirements.
- Capacity to undertake course work on location in Wetherill Park in block release- or 5 day blocks every 6 weeks.
