In partnership with our host, BOC Gas and Gear, based in Wetherill Park, a leading global gases and engineering company supplying gases and equipment to sectors such as heavy industry and healthcare. BOC is seeking a 2nd Year Mechanical Fitter to join their team.
Whether you are looking to further expand your skills or transition into a new environment, this opportunity will allow you to build on your experience while working towards the successful completion of your MEM30219 Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade (Fitting / machining) and becoming a fully qualified tradesperson.
Job DetailsIn this role, you will assist in the safe and efficient operation of equipment under the supervision of experienced tradespeople.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain and repair BOC equipment on-site
- Service and refurbish vessels and systems
- Provide hands-on support for customer equipment needs
- Carry out audits, inspections, and safety checks
- Install food prep and freezer equipment
- Deliver services across multiple CES markets as needed
- Service both company and customer-owned gas equipment
- Perform gas purges and equipment rebuilds
Hours
- Monday to Friday: 7:00 am – 4:00 pm
- Overtime: May be required outside standard hours, depending on job requirements
- Full time 4-year contract including paid annual and personal leave
- Paid weekly
- Access to 1:1 mentoring

- Opportunity to access Government subsidy payments of up to a total of $5000 for the first 2 years of your apprenticeship paid in 6 monthly instalments

The ideal candidate will be a team player with a positive attitude and possess the following:
- A valid driver's licence
- A Construction White Card
- The ability to follow instructions and work safely
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Willingness to work overtime and travel to various sites
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Full COVID-19 vaccination required for hospital-based work
- Ability to pass a pre-employment medical, drug & alcohol screening, and police check
