APS 2 Weekend Cook

Aboriginal Hostels Limited (AHL) is looking for reliable and motivated Weekend Cook to join our team and help create a safe, clean, and welcoming environment at our Luprina Hostel in Adelaide SA.

As a Weekend Cook with AHL, you will receive a competitive base salary plus 15.4% superannuation. Generous shift penalties also apply for work after hours, weekends and public holidays.

Position Details

Ongoing (Part-time)

• Available to work on Weekends, Saturday and Sundays 07:30am – 18:00pm (30 hours per fortnight)

We are also looking to establish a Merit Pool to fill any future vacancies that may arise for Ongoing, Non-Ongoing, Full-time or Part-time positions.

Key Responsibilities of a Cook:

• Prepare meals in accordance with AHL's set menus, Food Safety Standards Australia and other relevant legislation.
• Stock management – rotate, receive and monitor food and kitchen supplies.
• Assist with ordering.
• Ensure the kitchen is cleaned to standard.
• Prepare and clean the dining rooms for residents.
• Assist with other tasks as needed.

What We're Looking for in a Cook:

• Available to work on Weekends, Saturday and Sundays 07:30am – 18:00pm (30 hours per fortnight)
• Experience in meal preparation in an industry-based environment, ensuring the safe production of quality food without compromise to Food Safety Standards Australia.
• Experience in commercial cookery, and the ability to manage stock rotation while ensuring timely service and hygiene of cooking equipment.
• Good understanding of cleanliness and health standards required whilst preparing food at the workstation.

The Ideal Candidate

You will have an understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and the ability to communicate respectfully and effectively.

While experience in a similar industry is desirable, what matters most is your ability to work effectively and positively as part of a team.

• Competitive Pay & Benefits: $59,520 - $64,877 per annum (pro-rated for part-time). You'll receive 15.4% superannuation, and generous leave entitlements to make sure you're well looked after.
• Generous shift penalties apply for work after hours, weekends and public holidays. 50% penalty rates apply for Saturday, and 100% penalty rates apply for Sunday.

Prior to engagement, you are required to:

• Provide evidence of Australian Citizenship.
• Undergo, obtain and maintain a Satisfactory National Criminal History Check.
• Meet Fitness for Duty requirements.

All Hostel Workers are required to be in good physical health, and will be required to walk, lift and carry due to the nature of the positions. These positions work a flexible schedule and must be able to move continuously during working hours. Shift work may apply.
