About the Role

The Technical Lead – Front-End will be instrumental in shaping the company's ecommerce and web platforms, ensuring they deliver outstanding digital experiences to students and partners. This role combines technical leadership with hands-on expertise, guiding a growing team of developers while setting the architectural direction for modern, customer-facing applications. Working closely with product, design, and backend teams, the successful candidate will help unify systems, improve usability, and support the organisation's broader educational mission.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the architecture, design, and delivery of front-end solutions across ecommerce and booking platforms.
  • Ensure applications are performant, accessible, and scalable, supporting a global education audience.
  • Collaborate with backend and integration teams to build API-driven, future-proof solutions.
  • Define coding standards, development practices, and deployment pipelines to ensure engineering excellence.
  • Mentor and support developers, conduct code reviews, and foster a culture of continuous learning.
  • Partner with stakeholders across product, QA, and business functions to align technology with educational outcomes.
  • Troubleshoot complex technical challenges, reduce technical debt, and drive ongoing improvements.
  • Stay across emerging technologies to guide long-term platform strategy.

Skills & Experience

  • 8+ years of front-end engineering experience, with advanced expertise in React and
  • Proven success architecting and delivering large-scale web applications.
  • Strong foundation in core web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
  • Experience with ecommerce platforms such as Shopify, as well as customer-facing applications.
  • Knowledge of backend development with
  • databases experience with Postgres, MongoDB is a plus.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD, automated testing, version control, and modern DevOps practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor technical teams.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence technical direction and engage business stakeholders.
