Who are we?

Herston Private Hospital is a stand-alone, day and short stay private hospital with three operating theatres, eight first stage recovery beds and eight second stage recovery chairs along with seven overnight short stay beds. Centrally located within the Herston Health Precinct, it is conveniently located across Bowen Bridge Road, 200 metres from the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital, close to public transport and easily accessible onsite carparking with capped daily rates.

About the role

Join the dedicated team at Herston Private Hospital as a full-time Surgery Connect Coordinator. In this crucial role, you will be responsible for seamlessly coordinating the scheduling and management of surgical procedures, ensuring efficient patient flow and exceptional patient care. This position is based in our modern facilities in Bowen Hills, QLD.

What you'll be doing

  • Liaise with Surgeons, Anaesthetists, and other medical staff to schedule and coordinate surgical procedures

  • Manage the hospital's surgical waitlist, in conjunction with the Queensland Health Surgery Connect team and Specialist's rooms and ensure timely access to care for patients

  • Collaborate with multiple teams to optimise theatre utilisation and minimise delays

  • Provide excellent customer service to patients and their families throughout the surgical journey

  • Maintain detailed records and generate reports to support effective hospital operations utilising a number of systems and platforms

  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance patient experience and surgical workflows

What we're looking for

  • Significant experience in a medical administration or patient coordination role, preferably within a hospital setting

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively liaise with clinicians, patients, and other stakeholders

  • Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities to manage competing priorities and ensure smooth surgical flow

  • Proficient in using medical software and information systems to maintain accurate records and produce reports

  • Commitment to delivering the highest standards of patient-centred care

  • Flexible and adaptable to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic healthcare environment
