About the business and the role

Norstar Steel Recyclers are a well established, privately owned, market leading Victorian business that revolves around the recycling of scrap ferrous & non-ferrous metals, sourced from industrial, commercial and domestic customers, supplying to international and domestic markets.

Currently we are seeking a scrap handler operator to fill a position on our afternoon shift team. What's on offer is an above award casual rate, applicable shift loadings and overtime plus superannuation. Permanent placement will be on offer after a successful probationary period.

The position will require some cleaning and manual handling duties on a daily basis.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to learn other processes within the business.

Applicants with excavator experience is an advantage but all training in operation of our machinery will be provided.

Job tasks and responsibilities

  • Operating Sennebogan Scrap handlers up to 100Ton
  • Operating a Heavy Metal Shear
  • Cleaning duties
  • Some heavy lifting required

Skills and experience

  • Current drivers license
  • The ability to follow instructions
  • The ability to work safely at all times
  • Able to work as part of a team

Ongoing training and support will be provided until fully competent.
