Our Northern Specialist Family Violence Service (NSFVS) team are the lead provider for the integrated family violence service system in the Northern Metropolitan sub-region.
The NSFVS provides support services to victim survivors of family violence including children, inclusive of cisgender heterosexual women; and people from the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex and Queer Community (LGBTIQ+).
The Opportunity
NSFVS provides a range of specialist family violence programs. The service aims to support victim survivors and their children to remain safely within their community and maintain a life free of violence while also addressing the emotional and practical needs and issues arising from the violence.
We currently have two roles available and both positions are based at our Preston office on Wurundjeri Country with a mix of working in the office and working from home.
- Full Time, Permanent role
- Full Time, Fixed term role until 30th of June 2027
- $110k pa + Super + Salary packaging up to $15,900 pro rata
Key Responsibilities
This role is solution focused, actioning brief to intermediate specialist family violence responses. The primary function of the role is to:
- Provide a response to victim survivors at risk including ongoing assessment of family violence risk
- Safety planning
- Assertive engagement
- Outreach
- Extensive advocacy and referrals within the service system.
The Specialist Family Violence Practitioner -Crisis/Intake Response will respond to incoming calls and referrals from victim survivors and provide secondary consultations to professionals, this role may also include short term case management to victim survivors in crisis accommodation.
About You
Our successful applicant will show commitment to working collaboratively to ensure quality outcomes for Victim Survivors and their children involved in our programs. In addition, they will have:
- A minimum Bachelor level qualification in Social Work or recent employment in the family violence sector or equivalency met through the 7 Equivalency Principles in line with the minimum mandatory qualification requirements. Please see for further information.
- A comprehensive understanding of the Integrated Family Violence Service System.
- Knowledge of the Family Violence Protection Act 2008 and the Common Risk Assessment Framework, MARAM and the ability to share this knowledge and model systems advocacy.
Ideally also have the following skills and/or experience:
- Ability to speak a language in addition to English.
- Previous experience working with victim survivors of family violence.
- Previous experience in family violence risk-assessment and safety planning
