Our school features 11 mainstream classes and 3 inclusive education classes dedicated to supporting students with multi-categorical disabilities from the wider local area. 26% of our students identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander and 12% of students come from a language background other than English.
We are committed to quality teaching and learning, focusing on building teacher capacity to empower students in literacy and numeracy through a comprehensive curriculum that emphasises citizenship and Explicit Instruction. This approach fosters respectful, responsible, and high-achieving individuals who excel academically and socially, equipping them with the essential skills and values necessary for success in all areas of life and preparing them for future challenges and opportunities. High expectations are upheld in all learning spaces, ensuring that all students receive explicit guidance, scaffolded support, and timely feedback.
Our commitment to the comprehensive development of students fosters belonging, resilience, and well-being. We maintain high expectations for students to embody the "Beresfield Way," which promotes positive citizenship and respectful interactions. To support this, we implement evidence-based approaches to well-being and attendance, supported by robust assessment processes that monitor each student's needs. The Learning Support Team manages daily well-being initiatives, and all staff are trained in the Berry Street model, which informs our Trauma-Informed Practice and restorative justice approaches.
