ABOUT THE ROLE:

Reporting to the Controls Engineering Manager, we are seeking a Senior Electronics Hardware Engineer to design and develop innovative electronic products that support ActronAir's next generation of controls and connected devices. This role focuses on hardware design across wall controllers, wireless devices, and high-volume PCB assemblies. Experience in firmware or the ability to collaborate with firmware engineers is highly advantageous. The successful applicant will work across the full product lifecycle, ensuring robust, reliable designs that meet compliance, manufacturing, and customer expectations.

WHAT'S INVOLVED:

  • Design and develop PCBs, subassemblies, and user interfaces.
  • Lead projects from concept through to completion, and manage significant PCB hardware upgrades.
  • Collaborate with software, product design, documentation, project management, production, purchasing, and service teams.
  • Support in-house PCB and final assembly lines, including designing automated production test systems.
  • Select reliable components with strong long-term supply chain availability.
  • Ensure designs meet mains power, EMC, and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform hands-on fault-finding and troubleshooting at component and system level.

YOU WILL NEED:

There are a few essential tools you will need under your belt to be successful in this role:

  • 5+ years of similar experience.
  • Strong PCB design experience using Altium 365 (schematics, layout, libraries, manufacturing outputs).
  • Knowledge of EMC design principles, mains-powered electronics, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience selecting components for reliability and lifecycle longevity.
  • Exposure to low-power, battery-operated devices.
  • Experience integrating Wi-Fi and Bluetooth modules.
  • Understanding of firmware drivers/interfaces and a willingness to collaborate on firmware tasks.
  • Experience in production electronics design and automated test system development (advantageous).
  • Practical electronics skills, including hands-on fault-finding.
  • Experience with LCD graphic displays (TFT and e-ink) is beneficial.
