Employment Pathways Advisor (South Hedland)

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Employment Pathways Advisor to join our team in South Hedland. In this role, you will work closely with clients to assess their skills, interests, and goals, providing tailored advice and resources to support their journey toward sustainable employment.

Ashburton Aboriginal Corporation (AAC) is a not-for-profit Aboriginal organisation providing direct services to enable Aboriginal people to participate in employment and economic opportunities. With a presence in Perth and across the Pilbara region, our Head Office is based in Tom Price, WA. Our mission is to establish and maintain an environment that benefits people through the creation of culturally appropriate employment and enterprise opportunities, and the provision of education and training services throughout the Pilbara. Our footprint extends across much of the vast Pilbara region, and we have been successfully supporting the development of opportunities for Aboriginal people in the region for many years.

About the Role

As an EPA your focus is helping job seekers become work ready and find suitable and sustainable employment. This role is exciting, challenging, and rewarding. This is a front-line position responsible for working with job seekers and employers to maximise sustainable employment for unemployed people. The job seekers are from varying backgrounds, cultures, and nationalities, including the socio-economic disadvantaged and people with disabilities. Strong communication skills and administrative ability required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct one-on-one assessments to understand clients' career interests, skills, and goals.

  • Develop individual career plans and provide ongoing support to clients.

  • Assist clients in job search strategies, resume writing, and interview preparation.

  • Connect clients with training programs, educational opportunities, and employment resources.

  • Collaborate with local employers to identify job openings

  • Maintain accurate records of client interactions and progress.

SELECTION CRITERIA

Essential:

  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with a range of people (both Indigenous and non-Indigenous) with competing needs.

  • A demonstrated capacity to achieve KPI's and outcomes.

  • Strong administrative skills.

  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Competent in Microsoft Office with the ability to grasp other IT programs/databases.

Desired:

  • Previous employment service or case management experience.

  • Demonstrated experience or capacity to work and engage with Aboriginal people.

  • An understanding of the cultural, political, economic, and social issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in contemporary Australian society.
