The
Launceston General Hospital
(LGH) is one of the three main public hospitals in Tasmania, Australia. It is located in Launceston and serves the north of the state. Services provided include Cardiology, Renal, Gastroenterology, Haematology-Oncology, Rehabilitation, General Surgery, Ear/Nose/Throat surgery, Plastic Surgery, Orthopaedics, Radiology, Paediatrics and Intensive Care Unit, Psychiatry: Inpatient Mental Health Unit and Consultation-Liaison. It is a teaching hospital servicing the University of Tasmania.
John Morris Diabetes Centre
Located in Launceston, the John Morris Diabetes Centre (JMDC) provides the only tertiary care diabetes service in north and north-eastern Tasmania. The JMDC is named after the late Dr John Morris, AO, MBE, FRACP.
The JMDC provides diabetes clinical care and education across the entire span of a person's life living with all types of diabetes. The clinical services provided reflect the changing needs of a person living with diabetes from birth, through to childhood, adolescence, adulthood, and aging. The clinical framework for diabetes care delivered at the JMDC has been built on the principles of best practice in diabetes care, designed to optimise participation and build agency, are goal orientated, evidenced based and clinically justified.
The JMDC aims to meet regional needs and in this recognises the need to partner and collaborate with the clinical care provided by General Practice, private practice Credentialled Diabetes Educators, Nurse Practitioners and Endocrinologists, and NGOs such as Diabetes Australia, and strategically not duplicating services.
The Role
- Provide specialist nursing expertise within an interdisciplinary framework to assist individuals and their families/carers to adjust to living with diabetes and/ or other endocrinology conditions, including the provision of education and health promotion activities.
- Act as a clinical resource for internal and external stakeholders, including community organisations and health professionals, to provide specialist advice, knowledge and support.

Details of Appointment
Permanent, day worker position, working up to 64 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon we can onboard you.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Classification:
Salary
$106,570 - $112,440 per annum (pro rata) + 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount. + access to salary packaging.
- Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service) Agreement 2023
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10 % based on qualification type.

Eligibility
Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:
- Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse.
Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:
- Credentialed with the Australian Diabetes Educators Association (CDE)
- Member of the ADEA or other relevant professional organisation(s).
- Holds, or is working towards, a relevant postgraduate qualification.
